Alert - Route 12 Schedule March 2024

The LaSalle Causeway is closed until further notice. Route 12 will not be in operation. Express 601/602 will detour between the Downtown Transfer Point and Highway 15/Gore via Montreal and the Waaban Crossing. Riders using stops south of Highway 15/Gore must use the 12A shuttle. 4000-01-01 - TSA - Causeway

April 4, 2024 - UPDATE - LaSalle Causeway CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The LaSalle Causeway remains CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  During this time, Express Route 601/602 will detour between the Downtown Transfer Point and Highway 15/Gore via Montreal and the Waaban Crossing.  Regular service will continue to be provided to stops between Rideau Town Centre and the Innovation Drive Park & Ride. Customers using stops south of Highway 15/Gore must use the Route 12A Shuttle.

Effective Thursday, April 4, Express Route 602 will service a new accessible stop on Gore, west of Highway 15 (south side).  Riders may transfer between the Route 12A and Express Route 601/602 at accessible temporary stops at the Highway 15/Gore intersection.  

Stops at Royal Military College (north side of Highway 2), Slush Puppie Place, and Barrack/King will be out of service during the Causeway closures.

April 4, 2024 - UPDATE - LaSalle Causeway CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

UPDATED FRIDAY, APRIL 12

The LaSalle Causeway remains CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  Route 12 is not operating. Effective Monday, April 15, the following changes will be made to Route 12A.  Download the shuttle schedule.

  • Service will be extended to service the stop on Highway 2 at Royal Military College (south side) during shuttle operating times.
  • The stop on Niagara Park at CANEX (east side) will be out of service as of Monday, April 15.  During weekday peak times, Route 12A may be boarded on Highway 2 (south side), east of Highway 15 (one block north and one-half block west), or on Lundy's at Niagara Park (two blocks south).  At all other times, please board Route 12A on Niagara Park, across from CANEX (west side).

The LaSalle Causeway is currently CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  Route 12 will not operate during this time.

Kingston Transit service adjustments - UPDATED MONDAY, JANUARY 23

UPDATED MONDAY, JANUARY 23

Effective Monday, January 23, 2023, Route 4 will return to 30-minute Monday-Saturday daytime service.  Buses will operate every 30 minutes from 6:15 a.m.-7:15 p.m., Monday-Saturday.  Schedules in shelters and on this website reflect the adjusted schedule.

Service remains temporarily reduced on select routes in order to continue to provide high-quality, efficient service for the whole of the transit system.  Staffing shortages, which have impacted many industries, are contributing to short-term service reductions. Kingston Transit is diligently working to recruit more drivers to restore services to pre-pandemic levels. As new operators are added, service will be restored to affected routes. 

Impacted routes 

  • Route 11 will provide hourly service Monday to Saturday. The Sunday schedule will not be affected. Route 11 trips will depart from the Cataraqui Centre Transfer Point at 45 minutes past the hour and the Kingston Centre Transfer Point at 15 minutes past the hour.   

  • Route 12 will provide hourly service Monday to Saturday. The Sunday schedule will not be affected. Route 12 trips will depart from the Kingston Centre Transfer Point at 45 minutes past the hour and CFB Kingston at 15 minutes past the hour.   

  • Route 15 will provide hourly service Monday to Saturday. The Sunday schedule will not be affected. Route 15 trips will depart Reddendale at 15 minutes past the hour, Cataraqui Centre Transfer Point to Cataraqui Woods on the hour and Cataraqui Centre Transfer Point to Reddendale at 30 minutes past the hour. 

Updated schedule information will be available online and on the real-time apps, Transit: Subway & Bus Times, Google Maps and Moovit. Updates will also be posted on Kingston Transit’s social media channels.

Kingston Transit service adjustments

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 1, 2023

Effective Thursday, July 21, Kingston Transit will temporarily reduce service on select routes in order to continue to provide high-quality, efficient service for the whole of the transit service. Kingston Transit continues to operate on the same reduced service schedule as outlined below:

Weekday service
Express routes will operate on a 30-minute service level from approximately 6 a.m. – midnight. During morning and afternoon peak periods, service will operate every 15 minutes on all Express routes, with the following exceptions:

  • Route 502 during the morning peak period, which will operate on 10-minute service
  • Route 501 during the afternoon peak period, which will operate on 10-minute service
  • Routes 501 and 502 during the weekday midday period, which will operate on 20-minute service
  • Routes 801/802 which will operate on 20-minute service during morning and afternoon peak periods, and on 40-minute service at all other times.

Local routes will operate on pre-pandemic service level (including Routes 17A/17D/17P/17W, 18, and 20), with the following exceptions:

  • Route 11 will operate on hourly service
  • Route 12 will operate on hourly service
  • Route 15 will operate on hourly service

Saturday/Sunday service
All Express routes will operate on pre-pandemic service levels, excepting Routes 801/802 which will operate on 40-minute service.  Local routes will operate on pre-pandemic service levels (including Routes 17A/17D/17P/17W and 18) with the following exceptions:

  • Route 11 will operate on hourly service
  • Route 12 will operate on hourly service
  • Route 15 will operate on hourly service

2024-04-28 - TSA - Ontario

April 28, 2024 - Road closure - Ontario Street

Ontario Street will be closed between Brock and Johnson from 6:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 for the Kingston Road Runners’ annual Limestone Race Weekend.  During this time, Downtown-bound Route 3 buses will detour via Earl, King, and Brock to access the Downtown Transfer Point. Kingston Centre-bound buses will not be affected. Stops on Ontario at Johnson and on Brock at City Hall will be out of service during these times. Route 3 buses will serve a temporary stop on King at Market during this closure.

2024-04-25 - TSA - 20

April 25, 2024 - Route out of service

The Route 20 Queen's Shuttle will not operate after the end of Queen's University winter term exams.  Regular service on Route 20 will conclude at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, and will resume in September.

2024-04-24 - TSA - 17

April 24/25, 2024 - Route out of service

The Route 17A/17D/17P/17W late night Queen's Shuttle will not operate after the end of the Queen's University winter term.  Regular service on Route 17A/17D/17P/17W will conclude at 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, and will resume in September.

April 4, 2024 - Stops entering service - Division Street at Elliott

Effective Thursday, April 4, Express 701/702 will service new accessible stops on Division at Elliott.

2023-03-30 - TSA - University

March 30, 2023 - Road closure - University Avenue (UPDATED)

University Avenue remains closed between Earl and Union until further notice to allow for safe removal of debris from demolition of a nearby building.  During this time, the following detours will be in effect:

  • Express Routes 601/602: from the intersection of University and Earl, Express Route 601 buses will detour right to Earl, left to Albert, and left to Stuart to resume regular route.  The stop on University at Union will be out of service; Express Route 601/602 buses will continue to service the Route 17/20 stop on University at Earl (west side).
  • Express Routes 801/802: from the Downtown Transfer Point, buses will detour to the Queen's/Kingston General Hospital Express stop via Bagot, West, King, Lower University, and Stuart.  The stop on University at Union will be out of service; Express Route 801 buses will not service the stop on Brock at Barrie, however this stop remains in service for all other routes.
  • Route 17A An Clachan: from the intersection of University and Earl, buses will detour right to Earl, left to Alfred, and right to Union to resume regular route.  The stop on University at Union will be out of service.
  • Route 17P Princess/Albert: from the intersection of Union and University, buses will detour left to Union, right to Alfred, right to Earl, and left to University.  The stop on University at Earl (east side) will be out of service; buses will service a temporary stop on Earl at University (south side).
  • Route 20 Princess/Albert: effective Thursday, March 30, from the intersection of Union and Alfred, buses will detour left to Alfred, right to Earl, and left to University to resume regular route.  Buses will resume servicing the stop on University at Brock (east side).
  • Route 20 Queen's West Campuseffective Thursday, March 30, from the intersection of University and Johnson, buses will continue straight on University, right to Earl, left to Alfred, and right to Union to resume regular route.  Route 20 buses will not service the stop at University/Union; please board buses at University/Earl or at Union/Alfred.

2020-08-31 - TSA - Princess

August 31, 2020 - Temporary stop move - Princess Street at Albert

Starting Monday, August 31, 2020 and continuing until further notice, the Express stop on Princess Street at Albert (north side) will be shifted to an accessible temporary stop one block west (on Princess at Nelson north side) to accommodate construction on adjacent property.

2017-05-18 - TSA - Centennial

May 19, 2017 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson

The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route.  The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.
