You are Essential to Helping Kingston Transit Enhance Service!

Kingston Transit is hiring 30+ new talented individuals who can help us build public transit in our great city. We are looking for individuals who have great people skills, are customer-friendly, and have a desire to serve the public.

What does this mean exactly? We want to hire people who have, but not limited to, worked in retail, restaurants, and front-line positions who wish to find a new career that can provide them with a competitive wage and a pension for their families. We want to hire people who enjoy working with a diverse community and can assist riders in finding their destination or who have questions about the city.

Bus operators are front-line employees, and we want people who are comfortable with greeting our valued riders. Bus operators are integral to the vitality of our city, and we are committed to enhancing our current service networks.

If you are a people person and have a safe driving record, we will provide you with paid training (6 weeks) and will help you to upgrade to your CZ licence.

Benefits of this Great Position

  • $25.60 - $31.42/Hour
  • Eligible for benefits and OMERS pension
  • Pre-scheduled up to 24 hours a week, with the option to work additional hours that come available
  • Unionized work environment

Are you Qualified?

  • No experience with driving a large vehicle is required. We will provide you with six weeks of paid training to upgrade your G to a CZ licence
  • Resume must showcase a customer-focused work background to highlight your ability to interact with customers during each shift
  • Valid Class G driver's licence with five years of driving experience and a clean driver's record/abstract
  • Must have your grade 12 diploma or equivalent education

Applicants should be aware that the hiring process may take up to two months. Successful applicants will receive on-the-job training that may take up to six weeks in order to receive a licence upgrade, on-bus and other operational and service training. New recruits will be paid during the training process. Start dates will be staggered.
