A variety of committees and boards offer input and advice to City Council on the issues that touch on their respective mandates. In addition, the City of Kingston is represented by Council members on a number of external agencies, often along with their counterparts from neighbouring municipalities.

The City encourages and enjoys committee participation by interested and informed citizens.

About closed meetings:

From time-to-time – and in accordance with rules defined in Ontario's Municipal Act – Council and certain municipal boards or committees are required to have closed meetings to receive information or give direction on specific topics
