At the May 2 council meeting, councillors approved an amended design for the project that maintains two westbound traffic lanes by eliminating the cycling lane on the north side of Bath Road.

Council also endorsed the staff recommendation to amend the parking bylaw to allow parking in a new location on the south side of Bath Road immediately west of Riley's Garden Centre. This will accommodate overflow customer parking and delivery vehicles between the traffic lane and multi-use pathway.

Next Steps

2017: Shoreline restoration work (investigation, design, construction)

July 2018: Construction contract awarded for bikeway project

Summer 2018: Construction of bikeway begins

October 2018: Construction of bikeway completed

Summer 2019: City will conduct traffic counts and public surveys, and solicit feedback from users of the bikeway for a post-project evaluation report to the Ontario Municipal Cycling Infrastructure Program
