Smart Cities Challenge Survey

The Smart Kingston strategy is the vision for improving the quality of life for residents by using connected technology to build better connections.  As part of its 2018 Smart Cities Challenge application, the City conducted a survey to ask residents about their visions for how innovation, data and connected technology could improve their lives.

Responses to that survey have helped develop the Smart City project to where it is today. They:

  • Informed the Smart Cities Challenge application submitted to the Government of Canada's Smart Cities Challenge on April 24, 2018.
  • Shaped the vision for initiatives, including how the community will take advantage of emerging technologies and innovations to improve the lives of Kingstonians.
  • Helped determine the use of the "Virtuous Cycle" model

The City, in partnership with Utilities Kingston, Queen's University and Limestone analytics is currently administering a survey on broadband internet access.

The goal of this project is to support funding applications for broadband infrastructure to improve Internet service, coverage, performance and rates.
