Name: Kala Seraphin

Description:

Kala is a passionate movement based artist, with experience in dance (particularly belly dancing and hip hop) and yoga. Over the years, she has participated and hosted many art-based classes and workshops. Kala worked as a kindergarten teacher in Korea, where she incorporated physical, arts-based learning into her lessons. She also has experience as a belly dancer and has taught many long and short term classes for varying skill levels. Kala also has experience as a yoga instructor, having worked as an instructor for several months in a wide range of styles.

Over the summer of 2015, she was part of the "Arts on the Rise" program offered in the Rideau heights area, offering hip hop classes to youth. She is also currently the artistic director of the Move Collective, which is aimed at youth between the ages of 13 and 24 with the goal of creating a sustainable urban culture in Kingston. This involves dancers, skate boarders, BMX riders and other movement-based artists. Kala is excited to offer movement based workshops to the Kingston community.

Kala prefers working with students in preschool, elementary, middle and high school, as well as adults and those with special needs.
