KFL&A Public Health is responsible for the management of many types of health-related emergencies. Infectious disease outbreaks, and food and water safety issues are two examples of Public Health involvement. Public Health works together with many agencies, such as hospitals, emergency medical services and municipal government to plan for and manage community health-related emergencies.

KFL&A Public Health also monitors influenza activity in Kingston and surrounding area.

Influenza can be prevented by:

  • Washing your hands frequently, when they are dirty, before you eat, etc.
  • Covering your coughs and sneezes (cough and sneeze into your elbow).
  • Staying home when you are sick.
  • Receiving an annual influenza immunization (the flu shot).
