The City is building a new fleet maintenance garage at its municipal campus at 701 Division Street. It will eventually replace the City's 70-year-old garage located nearby and is being built to achieve LEED Silver certification. This means it will include energy-efficient and environmentally friendly features such as solar panels on the roof, a stormwater retention pond, in-floor radiant heating and water and energy-efficient building systems.

The new 4,000 meter2 facility at 703 Division St. will also have:

  • 10 regular and two drive-through truck bays
  • five car bays
  • wash bay
  • a parts room
  • a welding area
  • staff facilities
  • administrative offices
  • a bridge crane
  • in-floor radiant heating
  • a computerized fluid management system
  • portable hoists

The facility is expected to be completed in summer of 2021.

Project Phases

The existing municipal fleet maintenance garage at 156 Railway St. services all City vehicles and equipment – everything from snowplows to lawnmowers and zambonis.

The new garage will be completed in two phases:

  • Phase one (Summer 2019 to late Fall 2019) - Site-servicing, grading and stormwater management
  • Phase two (Winter 2020 to Summer 2021) - New structure and site parking

Project Update

Construction of the new fleet maintenance garage is complete!

The City’s Central Garage Fleet Services team has moved to the new garage at 703 Division Street. The 43,000 square foot energy-efficient and environmentally friendly facility features 10 regular and drive-through truck bays, 5 car bays, a wash bay, parts rooms, welding area, staff facilities and administrative office.  Heating is provided from in-floor radiant heating; there is a 10-tonne bridge crane, multiple vehicle hoists and a full automated fluid management system. The Fleet Maintenance Garage services a diverse fleet of City vehicles and equipment – everything from snowplows to lawnmowers and Zambonis.

The project finished on schedule and under budget after 19 months of construction.

The remaining funds from the project budget are allocated to solar installation on the roof, with construction anticipated to start in Spring 2022.
