Karen Dolan is a passionate photographer artist. Karen has extensive experience working with art in the Kingston community, having served as the Executive Director (2011-2015) of the Kingston Arts Council and as a secondary art and photography teacher with the Limestone District School Board. Karen has a special interest and expertise in digital photography and the digital darkroom as well as considerable experience with software programs such as Photoshop and Photo Elements.

Karen believes a photography workshop is an opportunity to share creative ideas, the love of taking pictures and connect with fellow participants. In her workshops, she aims to share her knowledge of composition, essential photographic techniques, and the way she sees the world through her viewfinder. She will guide workshop participants through the picture taking process, encourage them to preserve their individual styles while taking creative risks, and teach basic photo editing in order for participants to create the best photographs that they can. Culminating activities would include a large format poster, photo art cards, hard cover book art featuring work and artist statements from all participants, and could include a final show and sale at a professional art gallery.
