As you may know, the City is now collecting input on local building heights using an online mapping tool on the Get Involved Kingston page. Please click through to see where participating residents are suggesting buildings of various heights could be built in Kingston.  Over 300 pins have already been added to the map – and you are welcome to add your own!

Indeed, now is the best time to get involved in the Density by Design discussions about where and how buildings of more than four storeys should grow in Kingston.  We are offering several ways for you to chime in!

Please see the Get Involved * page for an overview of the engagement opportunities listed below.  In addition to the Height Mapping Exercise (participants could win a Black Dog Hospitality gift card!), we:

• Have extended the deadline for input on the Density by Design project’s Issues & Options Report until Jan. 31, 2020. An executive summary of this document will be available shortly.
• Will be available to speak about mid-rise and taller buildings in Kingston:
  • Jan. 16 at the Climate Change Symposium at the Grand Theatre, 218 Princess St.  
  • At two workshops for interested residents:

Completing the Mid-Rise and Tall Buildings Policy is one of the City’s initiatives to pursue development of all types of housing city-wide through intensification and land-use policies. Increasing density is also a climate action because it supports the use of existing infrastructure and active/green transportation choices.
