Description:
Shannon Brown is an artist and educator committed to fostering the arts in schools and to addressing the needs of Kingston's diverse populations. She is an internationally exhibited and established artist whose paintings are held in collections across North America. Shannon has taught at venues across Canada including the Art Gallery of Ontario, ArtsSmarts and McGill University and works with students of all ages. She is also an actress, musician and documentary film-maker, and her films on gay marriage, laughter and dreaming have been broadcast on the Discovery Channel, CBC and more.
In her teaching, Shannon takes a multi-disciplinary artistic approach to themes such as self-advocacy, social justice and Aboriginal culture, as well as cross curriculum topics ranging from science and iPad animation to nature and land art.
Shannon can work with students of all ages and abilities.
